NEW AGE MASTERPIECE SET FOR 7/31 RELEASE
DREXEL HILL, PA: Alon, aka Marc A. Gallo, will release his remastered EP Persian Butterfly on Friday July 31st. Featuring 6 and 12-string acoustic guitars embellished with delays, filters and harmonizers, his work masterfully combines the organic and electronic to create a unique sonic world.
Alon’s unique production technique orchestrates the effects to complement the acoustic performance. Specifically, on the title track Persian Butterfly, he utilizes dual delays each set to different time intervals and synchronizes them to the tempo map. Not only does this transform the recording polyphonically, but you are amazed that this is the work of only one performer.
He’s appeared in Performing Songwriter and Progression magazines and has been featured on the Gagliarchives Progressive Rock Radio Show. His live performances include stops at the Tin Angel in Philadelphia, Kenny’s Castaways in NYC, and the art rock festival, NEARfest in Bethlehem, PA.
“These productions were not guided by music notation, like in classical performances,” notes Alon. “Instead, serendipity ruled the sessions. For instance, I’d experiment with different delay times until I found the right musical arrangement and then mix it to achieve the desired blend.”
Writer Dave Jones for Performing Songwriter observes, “The textures are otherworldly and often soaked in echoes and harmonics that create an impression of a guitar choir.”
Persian Butterfly will be available on Spotify, Apple Music and many other streaming services, with distribution by Great Egg Music. It was originally released in 2002 and the track, Ode to Marianne B. Gallo, was featured on NPR’s All Songs Considered.
Alon began as a singer-songwriter in 2001 and has evolved into an eclectic musical artist. He invented his customized sonic rig, The Alonomorphic Control Station, and produced two other releases, Alon (Self-Titled) and The Artist Manifesto: Document 1.
